Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 14, 1970) was an American actor and writer. This two-time Golden Globe Award-winning actor became well-known through her appearances as Barbara on CBS's One Day at a Time as well as Melanie Moretti on Hot in Cleveland. As a teenager when she was in her teens, she started acting and became a character actor. At the age of a little girl, her friendship when she met the daughter of TV producer led to a long-lasting fascination with the field. Bertinelli decided then to take up acting as an occupation. Bertinelli entered the television industry in her teens after she graduated from Tami Lynn School of Artists. Due to her impressive acting skills and self-confidence, she quickly established herself in the television business. Also, she is known for having a turbulent personal life, and her struggles with addiction. But she has persevered to gain her life back on track and be an accomplished person. She is well-known to the public through the publication of her New York Times best-selling books where she narrates her experiences during difficult periods of her life. Presently, the multitalented star is hosting the cooking show Kids Baking Championship. This slim teenager who has become a sexual symbol has also been associated to her Jenny Craig weight-loss program and is a spokesperson for the program.
